WELCOME, FRIEND!
Who is The Pasta Smith?
Welcome to my pasta project. My name is Nathan Smith, and I am the Pasta Smith. I've been making fresh pasta from scratch since 2018 and delicious meals from dried pasta for years before that. I began teaching pasta classes in 2022 and published this website in 2024 as a way to share recipes, tips, stories, and to offer pasta experiences to those looking to learn the art of pasta making -- or to those who simply want a fun and memorable experience with loved ones.

Pasta for the People
Pasta is an amazing focal point to bring people together and to help support many of our basic needs. Obviously, pasta provides physical nourishment, but it also brings people together to form real bonds. I'm on a mission to help make quality, delicious pasta more accessible to my community. You shouldn't have to spend $25+ for a plate of good pasta, or go to an "upscale" Italian restaurant. Whether I teach you how to make pasta dishes at home, or I someday reach the dream of serving you a meal at the long thought-of The Pasta Smith shop, you'll be able to access affordable pasta that brings you joy.

Italian-Inspired
I lived in Italy from 2008-2010 and was amazed at the countless varieties of pasta shapes and dishes found so prominently in that country (I was also surprised at how common hot dogs and french fries were, but that's for another story). Anyway, I fell in love with the Italian approach to food, focusing on simplicity, local and fresh ingredients, and treating food as a centerpiece for family and community. Most of the dishes shared on this site are inspired by Italian cuisine and culture.
Authentically Pasta Smith
I am not Italian, though maybe I should have been! The Pasta Smith is its own experience; one where we, together, can learn, create, eat, connect, discover, share, and most of all: pause to appreciate. I share many pasta recipes, but also other great dishes as well, all with my own touch and pride. So don't be shy; let's make some magic happen!
